Anna and Marion's Car Project

The balloon car project was about forces effecting an object. Doing this project we built a car that was powred by a balloon. The car had to be able to reach five meters. There are different forces effecting the car, these are gravity, air resistance, friction, compression, and applied force. The balloon is pushing the car forward while friction is helping to turn the wheels. Air resistance slows down the car and gravity keeps the car on the ground. After the cars were built we raced and tested them to see what car design went the farthest. Our car made the five meters in 2.529 seconds.

We used Gatorade tops for wheels and a paper towel tube for the body. The best feature of our car were the wheels which spun very well. We doubled up the balloons so there was more force coming from them and the car went faster. Our axles were made from straws stuck in the paper towel tube. We then made holes in Gatorade tops for wheels and stuck skewers through them and the straws. The car was held together with duct tape. Our car went fast and was a success.
